A walk through the Admission process at IMI New Delhi.
IMI New Delhi was set up in the year 1981 and is india’s first corporate sponosred business school. Set up in collaboration with IMD lausanne (then called as IMI) it soon carved a niche for itself and was able to establish itself as a knowledge repository and training ground for aspiring managers. Initially the focus remained on training programmes directed to all levels of managers. Later, it started the full time one year programme that still continues to thrive. With the changing scenario of business and how it was conducted the need of the hour was to explore more rigourous programs which resulted in lauch of the two year programme. Alongside training and teaching IMI also became a thriving hub for research and established itself as a knowledge capital. A culture that after close to four decades has cemented it further.
I am Navya Gupta, a 1st year PGDM – Banking and Financial Services student at IMI New Delhi. Last year, after receiving my CAT result I was bewildered. Multiple doubts ran through my mind and I was not able to find a clear solution to them. Additionally, I was wondering about the further processes of B Schools. Later, it came to my attention that IMI New Delhi is organizing an event named Nexus 5.0 and I decided to attend the session. The event was conducted online, and the session was full of insightful information. I even got the opportunity to hear from Mr. Vishwanath Mahapatra who is Assistant Vice President of Climate Risk Analyst at Barclays, an esteemed alumni of IMI, who shared his journey and enlightened us all. Afterward, a Question-and-Answer session was held. During the session, all my queries were answered and provided clarity. Attending Nexus 5.0 really helped me in the preparation for the further selection process of various B Schools with the proper strategy. Following the strategies, I was able to ace my personal assessment round of all the B Schools to whom I had applied to.
My name is Neha Vacher and I am a 1st year PGDM (Core) student at IMI, New Delhi. I have work experience of 1 year and during that I decided to appear for entrance exams of B-schools to pursue MBA. Post the completion of my entrance exams, I was still confused about the kind of career opportunities I will get and if MBA is the right path for me. I came across Nexus, which was being organized by the Admissions Committee of IMI, New Delhi. The best part of the event was that I could interact with the current students and alumni to gain perspective about the career paths that lay ahead. Nexus 5.0 was a fun and insightful session which started with the alumni sharing his corporate experience and revolved around solving queries or doubts that the other aspirants had. It helped me gain clarity of thought and prepare the right strategy for further rounds of selection.
After giving the MBA entrance exams, it was time to focus on college applications and the selection process. As IMI was one of the top colleges that I aspired to be a part of, I wanted to prepare well for the admission process. During this period, I attended the IMI's Nexus organized by the admissions committee. Not only were my doubts about the admission process at IMI were addressed and resolved but they also answered questions related to MBA and guided me on how I can equip myself for the coming years. I strongly recommend aspirants to attend Nexus, I am sure it will help you as it helped me.
